Sharing in Community

We are already in our third month of the project Sharing in Community/Compartiendo en Comunidad. With the essential support of the IHN-CCO DST grant and Linn County Public Health, and in collaboration with the H.A.R.T. Community Center, we are working with a group from Harrisburg, Linn County (Oregon) following an asset-based community development approach. Centered around sharing a dish, the group meets to reflect upon their history, culture, and individual and community strengths. As they do that, they also identify areas in the Harrisburg community that from their points of view require improvement, and the project connects with services and resources to address the identified areas of concern. The group is creating an asset-based community map, showing formal and informal institutions and the meanings associated to them. This is a great example of putting the community at the center of an intervention. Thank you Harrisburg!
